Antique cast iron and steel metal sleigh bed frame or daybed, made around 1910 probably. No slats at present. Very ornate side panel featuring a green man on one side; the other side is plain. Both end panels have decorative scrolled edges, and are the same height as each other. Castors at the base. Painted in a greenish black, with gold highlights on some of the castings. This was probably originally intended to be a day bed as it was a fair bit shorter than a normal bed; someone has made extensions out of brass to bring it up to standard length. Easy to remove if you want it as it was intended. Comes apart into four main bits. Condition is pretty good structurally: it's solid enough when all the bolts are tightened up. The steel panel one end is slightly bashed, not badly though. Cosmetically it has various scuffs, marks, scratches and dings though nothing too terrible. As mentioned, there are no slats at the moment, nor bars to rest them on. Should be fairly easy to sort: it's mostly about getting side bars on it. Could be in wood, or maybe old bed irons. Each side should have three support brackets for the bars but one is missing. Maybe a whole divan bed could just sit inside it. We'll sort all this in the new year if it hasn't sold, meantime the price is nice to reflect the work needed. Dimensions: 239cm x 131cm x 96cm high (base height 37cm; mattress area 199cm x 127cm)
